Firefox 3: Allow Windows to Swap Memory When Application is Minimized
- Open Firefox 3.
- In the Location Bar, input about:config.
- Click to get past the warning message that appears.
- Right-click anywhere on the preference list.
- Click New and select Boolean.
- When prompted to input a New boolean value, input the following: config.trim_on_minimize
- Select true for the value.
- Click OK.
- Restart Firefox 3.

[] If you can’t restore via a backup prefs.js file, you can exit Firefox and issue the command firefox -safe-mode to bring up the Firefox Safe Mode screen. Then, just select Reset All User Preferences To Firefox Defaults. This will restore all user preferences to their default values.
